Field Hockey Falls to Boston University in Regular Season Finale

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- The University of Maine field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Boston University in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass. The Black Bears fall to 7-10 on the season and 3-2 in America East play. Boston University improves to 12-6 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Maine finishes tied for third place in the America East regular season standings. Boston University got on the scoreboard just 9:52 into the game when Amy Seaman scored her fifth goal of the season from Erin Calamari off a penalty corner. The Terriers added to their lead late in the first half when Sarah Shute scored her 13th goal of the season off a penalty corner at 27:05. She collected a rebound on the right side and shot from seven yards out. The Terriers capped the scoring at 62:42 when Seaman scored her second goal of the game off a scramble near the right post. Boston University outshot Maine 20-3 in the game. The Terriers also had a 12-4 advantage in penalty corners. Maine goalie Rebecca Giroux (Augusta, Maine) made six saves in goal. She falls to 5-8 on the season. Erin Prediger made one save in goal for Boston University to pick up the win. The Black Bears return to action on Friday, November 3 when they face Albany in the America East semifinals at 2:30 p.m. at Jack Barry Field in Cambridge, Mass.
