Field Hockey Falls at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass.--The University of Maine field hockey fell to Holy Cross by the score of 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Worcester, Mass. Maine is now 6-10 on the season while Holy Cross moved to 7-11. Maine was led by Brittany Fleck (Vancouver, British Columbia) who made five saves in net for Maine. The two teams battled through an even first half until Kristin Schulz gave Holy Cross the lead in the 34th minute. Maine attacked Holy Cross in the second half, and had six shots to Holy Cross' four in the second half. Despite the pressure, the Black Bears could not quite score the equalizer. The Black Bears are gearing up for the America East semi-finals on Friday at 1 p.m. Maine, the thrid seed, will play New Hampshire, the number two seed, in the first of two semi-final games hosted by the America East regular season champion University at Albany. Should the Black Bears win, they would play in the final on Sunday.
