MacDonald Named America East Co-Rookie of the Week

ORONO, Maine- University of Maine field hockey player Kim MacDonald (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) was named the America East Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday. MacDonald scored two goals and added an assist as Maine went 2-0 on the week.

On Friday, MacDonald assisted on the second goal of the game for the Black Bears. She then scored the game-winner in overtime against New Hampshire on a breakaway as Maine improved to 3-0 in America East play.

On Sunday, MacDonald scored the lone goal of the game on a penalty corner as time expired in the first half. It was her team-leading seventh goal of the season and fourth game-winner.

MacDonald leads Maine in scoring with seven goals and four assists for 18 points.

The Black Bears are 10-5 on the season and tied with Boston University for first place in the America East standings. Maine returns to action on Saturday, October 22 when they travel to UMBC for a game with the Retrievers.
