Brittany Fleck Named America East Field Hockey Rookie of the Week

ORONO, Maine--University of Maine field hockey freshman goalie Brittany Fleck (Vancouver, British Columbia) was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. Fleck played spectacular in net, making six saves to lead Maine to a 2-1 victory over Boston University on Saturday. The Terriers were previously unbeaten in America East play and were ranked 22nd in the country. Maine has now won four out of the eight Rookie of the Week awards this season. Kelly Newton (Vancouver, British Columbia) won the award twice earlier this season and Stephanie Gardiner (Vancouver, British Columbia) has earned the award once this season. The field hockey team returns to action on Sunday when the Black Bears travel to take on Vermont at 1 p.m. -U-M-
