Stephanie Gardiner Named America East Field Hockey Rookie of the Week
Gardiner receives award for the second time this season.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--University of Maine field hockey freshman forward Stephanie Gardiner (Vancouver, British Columbia) was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. Gardiner had the game-winning goal and a assist in Maine's 2-1 win over Vermont. This marks the second time she has received the honor this season.

The Black Bears have won five of nine Rookie of the Week awards this season. Brittany Fleck (Vancouver, British Columbia) received the award last week and Kelly Newton (Vancouver, British Columbia) won it twice earlier this season.

Gardiner has seven goals and is second on Maine with 19 points.

The Black Bears return to action on Saturday, November 1, when they host their final regular season home game against Fairfield at 11:30 a.m.
