Reusch, Healy Named Field Hockey Captains

Dec. 5, 2006

ORONO, Maine-- University of Maine interim field hockey coach Andrea Thebarge announced today that the team has selected Erin Reusch (Salem, N.H.) and Kristen Healy (Turner, Maine) to serve as captains for the 2007 season. Both players will serve as captains for the first time.

Reusch, a midfielder, has seen action in 55 career games and has one goal and two assists for four points. She started all 19 games for the Black Bears in 2006 and scored a goal in Maine's victory over Sacred Heart in the season-opener. She notched assists in games against Missouri State and UMBC. She has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic squad, the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and named a Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

Healy, a back, has seen action in 58 career games for the Black Bears. She has one goal and two assists for four career points. She scored an unassisted goal which turned out to be the game-winner in Maine's 1-0 victory over Cornell this past season. Healy has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic squad, the America East Academic Honor Roll and also named a UMaine Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

The duo helped lead Maine to a record of 8-11 in 2006. The Black Bears won five of their last eight games on the season and earned a berth in the 2006 America East Championship game where they fell to Boston University.
