Women's Hockey Falls to New Hampshire 7-1

Orono, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to visiting New Hampshire 7-1 on Friday night. The Black Bears slide to 2-9-0 overall and 0-5-0 in Hockey East. With the win the Wildcats improve to 7-1-3 overall and 3[1]-1-2 in conference play. Maine was led by Jennie Gallo (Castlegar, British Columbia) who notched the team's only goal of the evening.

New Hampshire put the game out of reach midway through the first period, scoring four goals, three on the powerplay, in just over three minutes. The Black Bears cut the lead by one when Gallo put Melissa Gagnon's (St. Gilles, Quebec) pass into the back of the net early in the second period to make the score 4-1, it was Gallo's sixth goal of the season. The Wildcat responded by adding three more goals in the final two periods of play to make it 7-1.

Genevieve Turgeon (Lac Beauport, Quebec) made 26 saves as she dropped to 1-9-0 on the season.

Maine looks to turn it around as they welcome Boston College to the Alfond Arena on Sunday, Nov. 16, for a 2 p.m. start. The Black Bears are now 2-3-0 at home this season.
