Taryn Peacock Named TPS Hockey Player of the Week
Jan. 21, 2008
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - For the first time of her career, sophomore Taryn Peacock was named Hockey East's TPS Hockey Player of the Week on Monday. The Calgary, Alberta native had the game-winning goal in Sunday's 4-1 over Northeastern. Peacock also recorded an assist and a +2 +/- rating in the game on five shots. This is the second Player of the Week honor for the Black Bears. Vanessa Vani was selected for the honor for the Week of Oct. 1. This is Peacock's second season with the Black Bears. Coming off a 12 point freshman season (8g, 4a), Peacock has tallied 11 already this season on four goals and seven assists. She looks to eclipse her freshman mark in upcoming games. Eight of Peacock's 11 points this season have come against Hockey East opponents. That mark is three more than anyone else on the team. It also puts her 15th in Hockey East Conference Points. Taryn is a sophomore business major at UMaine. Before UMaine, she played for the PSA Chaos. In her freshman season in 2006-07 she played in 30 games for the Black Bears. She led all freshmen in goals scored with eight. She scored three goals in her first three collegiate games. --UM--
