Redshirt freshman Julie Poulin (Beauceville, Quebec) was named ITECH's Rookie of the Week for her two-point performance in Saturday's 5-0 win over Northeastern. Poulin tallied her sixth assist on the year on Maine's fourth goal of the game when she found a wide open Kelly Law (Markham, Ontario) who buried a first time shot from the blue line.

Poulin scored her fourth goal of her career and 10th career point on an empty net goal with just under a minute to play. Poulin intercepted a Northeastern pass in her own zone and sent it the entire length of the ice into the open net.

Poulin has appeared in 25 games this year for the Black Bears as a defenseman. Befor Maine, Poulin played defense for head coach Patrick Kelly and the Limoilou Titans, scored 34 goals and added 53 assists for 87 points in 63 games, won the provincial championships in 2000-01 and 2001-02, finished third, received all-star honors in 2000-01 and 2002-03, named Rookie of the Year in 2000-01 and played for Team Quebec her senior season.

Poulin is an undeclared major, was born June 17, 1983 and is the daughter of Lyna Lapointe and Marc Poulin.
