Women's Ice Hockey Signs Two

April 29, 2008

ORONO, Maine.--University of Maine women's ice hockey head coach Dan Lichterman announced the signings today of Myriam Croussette and Ashley Norum. Crousette is a 5-5 forward from Dawson College in Canada while Norum is a 5-9 defenseman from the North American Hockey Academy in Stowe, Vt.

Crousette, from Baie-Comeau, Quebec, just completed her second season for Dawson College, a CEGEP school in Montreal. She tallied 24 goals and 30 assists in 26 games last season for the school which is similar to a junior college or prep school.

"Myriam has great offensive instincts and will add some speed to our forward group," said Lichterman. "She will put some pressure on opponents with how strong she is and how well she sees the ice."

Norum, from Fairbanks, Alaska, just completed her second season with the North American Hockey Aacdemy, registering 14 goals and 29 assists in her two seasons.

"Ashley is a big mobile defenseman who has a great shot," Lichterman said. "She comes from a great learning environement at NAHA and will add depth to our young defensive core."

The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA clearinghouse.
