Maine Announces 2008-09 Women's Ice Hockey Schedule

ORONO, Maine--The University of Maine women's ice hockey schedule, announced today, features 16 games at Alfond Arena and a game against Vermont that will be played in Lewiston. Maine kicks off the season with an exhibition against the University of Prince Edward Island on Sept. 27.

Maine opens the regular season hosting a series against the University of North Dakota on Oct. 3 and 4. Maine then travels to Minnesota State, Mankato on Oct. 10 and 11. The Black Bears then return home to host Sacred Heart for a pair of games Oct. 17 and 18. The month ends with the first Hockey East Conference games of the season. Maine travels to Boston University on Oct. 25 and then to Providence College on Oct. 26.

Maine continues its season-long four-game road trip on Nov. 8 when it travels to UConn. The Black Bears play Northeastern the following day in Boston. Maine then returns home to host rival New Hampshire on Nov. 14, followed by a game against Boston College on Nov. 16. Maine will host Vermont in Lewiston, Maine, on Nov. 25, before traveling to Robert Morris for a pair of games Nov. 28 and 29.

December features a season-long four-game home stand. The Black Bears host Providence on Dec. 5 and 6. Union comes to town for a pair of games Dec. 12 and 13.

Maine opens 2009 with a trip to Potsdam, N.Y. to face Clarkson University for a pair of games on Jan. 9 and 10. The Black Bears return home to host Boston University for a pair of games Jan. 17 and 18. Maine then travels to New Hampshire for a series on Jan. 23 and 24, before returning home to host Northeastern Jan. 30 and 31.

The Black Bears hit the road when they travel to Boston College for a pair of games against the Eagles on Feb. 7 and 8. The Black Bears return home to host UConn in the final home series of the regular season on Feb. 13 and 14. Maine closes the regular season on the road when it travels to Vermont on Feb. 21 and 22.

The Hockey East quarterfinals are Feb. 28, with the semifinals and championships being held March 7 and 8.
