Women's Soccer Falls to Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Maine women's soccer team had its three-game unbeaten streak snapped Tuesday night with a 2-0 loss to Brown in Providence, R.I. The Black Bears fell to 2-4-2 on the season, while Brown improved to 1-5-1. Maine Goalkeeper Jasmine Phillips made seven saves in the contest, as Brown out shot the Black Bears 21-14. It marked just the second time in the last 28 games that Phillips has yielded more than one goal in a game. Phillips made three saves in the first period and four in the second period. Laura Martel, who scored a pair of goals in last Friday's victory over Holy Cross, had a match-high five shots for Maine. Hailey Blackburn and Kim Stephenson each had two shots apiece for the Black Bears. Brown received goals from Lindsay Cunningham and Kellie Slater to earn the win. Brown goalkeeper Steffi Yellin made a pair of saves in the contest.
