Women's Soccer Falls at UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md.--The University of Maine women's soccer team fell to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County by the score 1-0 in Baltimore, Md. on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Maine fell to 3-2-4 overall, and 0-1-0 in America East while UMBC went to 2-9-0 and 1-0-0 in conference play. Maine was led by Christine LaBelle (Nepean, Ontario) who had two shots. The two teams played through a scoreless first half before UMBC's Danielle Kell (Willards, Md.) converted off a free kick from Christine Sadowski (Baltimore, Md.) in the 61st minute to score the game's only goal. UMBC outshot Maine by a seven-to-six margin, but both teams had three shots on net. Jasmine Phillips (Nepean, Ontario) made two saves in net for the Black Bears while Christine Bacinski (Hampstead, Md.) made three saves in net for the Retrievers. The Black Bears return to action on Thursday when they host the Albany Great Danes at 3 p.m.
