WEST HARTFORD, Conn.-- Natalie Berry (Saco, Maine) and Marie-Andree Canuel (St.-Jean-Chrysostome, Quebec) each notched goals and Tanya Adorno (Farmington, Conn.) posted a shutout to lead the University of Maine women's soccer team past Hartford 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in West Hartford, Conn. The Black Bears, who extend their unbeaten streak to four games, improve to 8-4-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in America East play, while the Hawks fall to 3-10-1, 1-2-1 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, Berry put Maine on the board at 61:50 when she beat Hartford keeper Liz Cook with a header to the far post. Marie-Andree Canuel and Erin Corey (Winslow, Maine) both assisted on the goal for the Black Bears. The goal, which turned out to be the game-winner, was the first career goal for Berry.

Maine added to its lead at 76:01 off a corner kick. Marie-Michele Bouchard (Beauport, Quebec) found Canuel who was able to find the back of the net for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Maine keeper Tanya Adorno made one save in goal to record her third shutout of the season and 23rd of her career. She improves to 3-4 on the season. Cook made six saves in goal for the Hawks.

Maine outshot Hartford 20-6 in the game.

The Black Bears return to action on Thursday, October 13 when they travel to Albany for a 3:00 p.m. game against the Great Danes. Maine returns home on Sunday, October 16 when it hosts Binghamton at noon at Alumni Field in Orono.
