Women's Soccer Ties Hartford 1-1

Hartford, Conn. - The University of Maine women's soccer team battled Hartford to a 1-1 tie through 90 minutes and a pair of overtimes on Sunday in Hartford, Conn. The Black Bears record is now 4-5-3 on the season and 2-1-1 in America East. The Hawks are now 4-5-4 and 2-0-2 in the league.

Maine took a 1-0 lead at the 16:19 mark of the first period on an own goal which bounced off a Hawk defender and into the net. However, Hartford tied it at 1-1 at the 60:23 mark of the second period on a goal by Meagan Reimer.

The Black Bears outshot Hartford by a count of 13-12. Black Bear goalkeeper Jasmine Phillips made four saves in the contest, including three in the second period. She also made a crucial save in the first overtime to preserve the tie.

Maine returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Durham, N.H., to face New Hampshire at 3 p.m.
