Jasmine Phillips Named America East Player of the Week

Sept. 2, 2008

ORONO, Maine--University of Maine women's soccer senior goalkeeper Jasmine Phillips (Nepean, Ontario) was named the America East Player of the Week on Tuesday. It is the second consecutive week a Maine player has received the award as forward Laura Martel (Lewiston, Maine) earned the award last week.

Phillips backstopped the Black Bears' two ties over the weekend against the Atlantic 10's UMass Minutewomen and Rhode Island Rams. Phillips made eight saves in the two games, and recorded her second shutout of the season and 29th of her career against UMass. Phillips made several fantastic saves in both games. She has let in only one goal in three games this season.

Maine returns to action on Friday when the Black Bears travel to take on Temple at 3 p.m.
