Two Women's Soccer Players Named All-America East
Oct. 30, 2008
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Two University of Maine women's soccer players were honored as All-America East selections. Midfielder Kim Stephenson (Hampden, Maine) and fullback Cristina Di Ilesi (Laval, Quebec) were both named to the America East Second Team. Stephenson has been excellent in the middle of the field for the Black Bears. She has orchestrated the attack, ranking third on the team in shots, as well as played phenomenal on defense all season long. An engineering major, Stephenson is a three-time Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner as well as a member of the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll. Di Ilesi has been the anchor to the Black Bear defense all season long. She has been instrumental as a part of a Maine defense that has allowed the third-fewest goals in America East and has the second-most shutouts with eight. Di Ilesi is a Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner and a member of the America East Academic Honor Roll. The Black Bears return to action Thursday when they travel to take on Harttford in the America East Tournament at 6 p.m.
