Kim Stephenson and Jasmine Phillips Named to All-Championship Team

Nov. 9, 2008

BOSTON, Mass.--University of Maine women's soccer standouts Kim Stephenson (Hampden, Maine) and Jasmine Phillips (Nepean, Ontario) were named to the America East All-Championship Team as announced by the conference on Saturday evening. The duo led Maine to the America East Semi-finals.

Phillips, a senior tri-captain, holds nearly every goalkeeping record at the University of Maine. In the win against Hartford, she made a diving save in penalty kicks and converted the final shot to advance Maine to the semi-finals. Against Boston University in the semi-final game, she made nine saves as Maine lost a close game to the Terriers.

Stephenson, also a senior tri-captain, was an All-America East Second Team selection this season. She controlled the midfield for the Black Bears, and played tenacious defense while also orchestrating the Maine attack.

Maine advanced to its sixth consecutive America East Tournament this season, and advanced to the semi-finals for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
