Men's and Women's Soccer Teams Honored for Academics

Nov. 26, 2008

ORONO, Maine--The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has announced that the University of Maine is one of only 59 schools out of all three NCAA divisions in the country to have both its men's and women's soccer teams earn the Team Academic Award for the 2007-08 academic year. To receive the honor, a team must have a combined grade point average of at least a 3.0.

The women's soccer team posted an impressive 3.35 grade point average and had 15 America East Academic Honor Roll selections last season. This is the fourth time the team has been honored with the award.

The men's soccer team posted a 3.07 grade point average and had 14 players named to the America East Academic Honor Roll. This is the first time the program has been honored with the award.
