Softball Drops Two Tough Games
March 13, 2008 HONOLULU, Hawai'i- The University of Maine softball team droppped a pair of contests on Wednesday. The Black Bears fell to Texa Tech by the score of 6-1, while also falling to the 16th ranked Hawai'i team by the score of 9-0. With the losses, Maine fell to 0-20 on the season. Against Texas Tech, Maine was led by Ashley Waters (Amesbury, Mass.) who went 2-for-3 with a homerun. Jenna Balent (Conifer, Colo.) took the loss as her record fell to 0-7. In the evening game against Hawai'i, the 16th ranked team in the country, the Black Bears managed only two hits against tough pitching by Hawai'i. Terren Hall (Bucksport, Maine) and Erin Iandoli (Worcester, Mass.) had the hits for the Black Bears. Christine McGivney (Burr Ridge, Ill.) only gave up one earned run but her record fell to 0-3 on the season.
