Jasmine Stevens from Burlington, VT What types of things did you work on in the off-season to prepare you for the rigors of a full season of softball this year? First and foremost, we work on our strength and conditioning in the off-season. We weight lift 3 times a week and have conditioning workouts too. This helps prepare our bodies for the physical exertion we have to endure throughout the entire season. Next, we really work on the "little" things. We stress correct technique - such as good hitting technique and proper footwork when fielding a ball. Entering full pre-season practices with great strength, solid conditioning, and good mechanics allows us to generate more time into larger team situations, such as 1st and 3rd situations and cuts and relays, when we begin full team practices. This strategy allows us to enter the season ready to play from game 1.
