Ashley Waters Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second-Team

May 10, 2007

ORONO, Maine - University of Maine softball second baseman Ashley Waters was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second-Team on Thursday. It marks the second academic award in as many days for the sophomore, who was also named to the America East All-Academic Team on Wednesday night at the conference's annual awards banquet.

Waters, who was one of just three players from America East to be named to the All-District team, has a 3.78 GPA in communications. For the second-consecutive season, Waters earned a prestigious national academic award as she was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Academic All-American in 2006.

A two-time America East Player of the Week in 2007, Waters finished second on the Black Bear squad with a .348 batting average, which also ranked seventh in the league. Her 56 hits led the team and ranked second in America East.
