![]() Women's Swimming and Diving falls to UNH
Jan. 31, 2008 Orono, Maine - The University of Maine women's swimming and diving team fell to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats this evening by a score of 184 - 111. Mimi Chovanec led the Black Bears by winning the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:12.58 and placing second in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:01.37. Meag Fisher was the other Black Bear to win an event, taking the 200 yard IM in a time of 2:15.27. Colleen Miller added two second place finishes, first in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:33.33) and later in the 100 free (55.34). Mackenzie Grobmyer took second in the 100 yard butterfly (1:01.07) and third in the 1000 yard free (10:45.76). Courtney Healey finished second in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:14.29. Lily Herbold placed second in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:30.72. Other second place performances were provided by Caitlin Shelley in the 200 yard free (1:59.17) and Megan McLean in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:08.40). In the one meter dive, Maine finished third through fifth as Laura Williamson led the Black Bears with 209.50, followed by Samantha Graham (206.85) and Megan Barrett (204.98). The three meter competition saw Samantha Graham finish third with 212.9, Megan Barrett in fourth (207.6), and Laura Williamson finished fifth (200.7).
The Black Bears return to action this Saturday, February 2, when they face off with the Big Green of Dartmouth College. |
