 Maine Swimmers Drop Meet at Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maine women's swimming and diving team were defeated 139-94 on Saturday afternoon at Northeastern by the Huskies. The Black Bear women were led by Tal Shpaizer, who won the 200 IM and the 200 back, and Megan Wolters with first place finishes in the 200 free and 500 free. The Black Bears also won the 200 free relay. Tal Shpaizer (Shoham, Israel) won the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.08 and also won the 200 back in a time of 2:09.90. Megan Wolters (Orono, Maine) won the 200 free in a time of 1:55.32. Wolters also picked up a first place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:08.90. Also coming up with a first place finish for the Black Bears was Kiki O'Donnell (Hampden, Maine) who won the 200 breast with a time of 2:30.90. Sarah Holmsten (Red Wing, Minn.) finished second in the 1000 free with a time of 11:03.25. In addition, Brittany Harrington (Alexandria, Va.) picked up fourth place finished in both the 200 IM and 500 free. Shannon Scott (Cumberland, Maine) was the leading diver for the Black Bears, finishing fifth in both the one and three meter boards. Maine ended the meet by winning the 200 free relay in 1:43.92 with the team of Wolters, Karin Feldman (Kyriat Motzkin, Israel), Cadace Coville (Titusville, N.J.) and Heather Griffin (Presque Isle, Maine). The swimmers of the meet for the Black Bears were Sarah Holmsten and Kristen Riley and the diver of the meet was Katherine Mullin.
