Swimming Announces End Of Season Honors

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's and women's swimming and diving teams held their end of the season banquet on Sunday, April 3. During the banquet, the team awarded several honors, including naming Megan Wolters and Andy Magiera as team Most Valuable Performers in 2004-05.

Junior Megan Wolters (Cleveland, Miss.) earned Most Valuable Performer honors in her first season on the team after transferring from Louisiana State. She won the 500 free at the America East Championships with a school record time of 4:59.96. She was second in the 200 back with a school-record time of 2:04.62. Senior Andy Magiera (Surry, Maine) scored points in the 200 IM, 200 free and 200 butterfly at the America East Championships.

Other honors were as follows:

Switzer Dedication Award Karin Feldman and Martin Fitch

Most Improved Caitlin Tateishi and Dustin Carrier

Chandler Comeback Award Sarah Gordon and Chris Rodway

Miller Diving Award Keith Burgie

Palmer Award for Academic Excellence Maggie Warren and Justin Alley

In addition, captains for the 2005-06 season were named. Seniors Kristen Riley and Crystie McGrail will captain the women's team, while senior Barrett Nichols will captain the men's team.
