Track and Field Competes Against New Hampshire
Dec. 14, 2008 DURHAM, N.H.--The University of Maine women's and men's track teams competed against New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in Durham, N.H. The women scored 84 points and the men's team scored 62 points. Both teams placed second. The women were led by Jesse Labreck (Oakland, Maine) who won the 55 meter hurdles and the long jump, and placed second in the triple jump. The men were led by Kurt Thibeault (Lewiston, Maine) who won the 400 meter run. Labreck won the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 8.40 seconds and claimed the long jump with a leap of 18-03.75 feet. She jumped 38-02.25 feet to take runner-up honors in the triple jump. Other top performers included Allyson Howatt (Fredericton, New Brunswick) who claimed the 55 meter dash in a time of 7.20 seconds and was followed closely in third by Jennifer Pierpont (Saco, Maine) who had a time of 7.48 seconds. Vicki Tolton (Smithers, British Columbia) claimed the 500 meter run in a time of 1:15.06. Vanessa Letourneau (Fairfield, Maine) won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:21.81 while Hilary Maxim (Old Town, Maine) won the one-mile run in a time of 5:11.25. Katherine McGeoghan (Agawam, Mass.) won the high jump with a leap of 5-03.25 feet. The 4x400 meter relay team won in a time of 4:00.99 and the 4x800 meter relay team took first in a time of 9:43.78. On the men's side, Thibeault won the 400 meter dash in a time of 52.46 seconds while Mark Liimakka (Old Town, Maine) won the pole vault with a jump of 14-05.50 feet. Trevor England (Poland, Maine) won the triple jump with a distance of 44-09 feet and Riley Masters (Bangor, Maine) took the one mile run with a time of 4:17.10.
In the 500 meter run, Travis Cook (Raymond, Maine) and Matt Holman (Gardiner, Maine) took second and third, respectively, with times of 1:07.29 and 1:07.67, respectively. Miles Bartlett (Casco, Maine) took runner-up honors in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.91 while Jeff Ramos (Turner, Maine) was the runner-up in the high jump with a measurement of 6-06.75 feet. The track and field teams return to action on Jan. 9 at the Dartmouth Relays. -U-M- |
