Burlock, Howatt Named to America East All-Academic Team

Two University of Maine Track and Field student-athletes have been named to the 2008 Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team as announced by the conference on Wednesday, March 5. Maine senior Lindsay Burlock and sophomore Allyson Howatt were both named based on their athletic and academic achievements. Each All-Academic Team has been selected based on the student-athlete's academic and athletic accomplishments. Academic achievement for consideration requires student-athletes to have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 entering the season. For track and field, student-athletes are required to be a top-three finisher at the conference championship meet.

Burlock is a senior food science and nutrition major a UMaine. She is a 400m run specialist on the Maine Track and Field team. She also runs on Maine's 4x400 team. She recently finished sixth in the event at the New England Indoor Track and Field Championships in Boston. She was also part of the 4x400 team at the event that took first with a school record time. Burlock also finished third in the 400m at the America East Championships qualifying her for the All-Academic Team honor. Burlock is originally from Caribou, Maine.

Howatt is a sophomore undecided major at UMaine. She is sprints specialist on the Maine Track and Field team. She competes in the 55m and 200m and is part of the 4x400 team. She recently finished third in the 55m dash and won the 200m dash at the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships. She also set school records in the events. Howatt was also part of the 4x400 team at the event that took first with yet another school record time. Howatt is originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick.
