Men's and Women's Track Both Tabbed Seventh in America East Preseason Poll

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In America East's annual outdoor track season coaches preseason poll, the University of Maine men's and women's track teams were both picked to finish seventh out of nine teams. The men received 20 votes which placed them right in front of eighth placed Vermont who garnered 17 votes. The women received 22 votes which placed them right in front of the Vermont women's team who received 19 votes. On the men's side, the University of Albany took first place honors with seven out of a possible eight first place votes for 63 points. On the women's side, Boston University took top honors garnering six first place votes for 62 points. The poll was conducted among the conference's coaches and coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team. Following Albany (63, seven first-place votes) the University of New Hampshire took two first-place votes for 55 points. Binghamton University (53 points) came in a close third, followed by UMBC (43 points) and Boston University (36 points). Stony Brook University (29), University of Maine (20), University of Vermont (17) and University of Hartford (8) rounded out the nine-team poll. Following Boston University (62, six first-place votes) on the women's side was the University of New Hampshire who took the other three first-place votes in its second-place standing with 59 points. University at Albany (50 points) finished in third place, followed by UMBC (40 points) in fourth, and Stony Brook University (33 points) taking fifth-place. Binghamton University tallied 31 points for sixth, while University of Maine (22 points) took seventh. University of Vermont (19 points), and the University of Hartford (8 points) rounded out the coaches' poll. The Black Bears began their spring outdoor season on Mar. 15 when they traveled to Northridge, Calif. for the Cal-Northridge Invitational.
