Four Track and Field Athletes Named to America East All-Academic Squads

ORONO, Maine--Four University of Maine track and field athletes were honored by America East today with All-Academic accolades. Lindsay Burlock (Caribou, Maine), Allyson Howatt (Fredericton, New Brunswick), Miles Bartlett (Casco, Maine) and Dan Poirier (Lewiston, Maine) were all named to their respective All-Academic teams.

Burlock, a senior, finished second in the 400 meter dash at the America East Championships last weekend and was a member of the champion 4x400 meter relay team that has broken the school-record three times.

Howatt, a sophomore, was the Outstanding Track Performer at the America East Champsionhips last weekend after winning the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and anchoring the 4x400 meter relay team.

Bartlett, a sophomore, placed third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the conference meet, and in the process qualified for the NCAA Regionals.

Poirier, a sophomore, was runner-up at the Championships in the javelin throw. He has qualified for the IC4A Championships that will take place May 16-18 in Princeton, N.J.

The Black Bears return to action tomorrow at the New England Championships in Durham, N.H.
