Mark Jones (Washington State `95) enters his second season as the assistant coach of the Maine volleyball program. His responsibilities include recruiting, travel, and primarily working with passing and defense. Jones came to Orono last season after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Tennessee State in the Ohio Valley Conference. He helped guide Tennessee State to the 2005 OVC championship and a second place finish in 2006.
Prior to Tennessee State, Jones served as the head coach of the men's and women's volleyball programs at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., from 2001-03. He was named the 2002 MAMVIC Coach of the Year after leading the men's team to the NAIA national title that season.
He has also coached at Northwestern State and Washington State. Jones earned his bachelor of arts in history from Washington State in 1995. He received his master's degree in education from William Woods University in May 2001, and earned his second master's, in sports administration, from Tennessee State in May 2007.
