Volleyball Gets 3-0 Win Over Husson

Orono, Maine - The University of Maine volleyball team returned their record to .500 with a win over Husson University in three sets. The Black Bears (7-7) took the first two sets by identical scores of 25-10. Husson (5-4) couldn't slow Maine down as the Black Bears cruised through the third set 25-6. Lindsay Allman (St. Louis, Mo.) led the Black Bears with eight kills. Paige Tortorello (Mundelein, Ill.) shined as she doled out 32 assists, five digs and four kills. In addition, Tortorello stunned the Husson defense with seven served aces. Laura Goettsch (Woodstock, Ontario) quietly scored seven kills in a methodical Black Bear attack that never let up. Maine, which led America East in attack percentage entering this match, finished with a .479 attack percentage, more than double their average. Emily Root (Barrington Hills, Ill.) led the Black Bears with eight digs. Maine's quest to end a two-year playoff drought resumes Friday, Oct. 3rd, at 7 p.m. when they travel to New York to take on Albany in the first conference match-up of the season. The Black Bears currently have the second best record amongst America East teams. --UM--
