Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Albany

Albany, NY - The University of Maine volleyball team fell in the first America East conference match of the season to the University of Albany in three sets. After narrowly losing the first set 26-28 to Albany (8-8, 1-0 AE), Maine (7-8, 0-1 AE) couldn't bounce back as they dropped the following two by scores of 11-25 and 22-25. Brittany Kiehl (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the Black Bears with nine kills. Jessica Wolfenden (Ottawa, Ontario) set up a Maine attack that looked strong in the first set, totalling 26 assists and seven digs. The Black Bears Lindsay Allman (St. Louis, Mo.) and Amy Lawson (Coeur D'Alene, Id.) each had seven kills in the match. Ashlee Wright (Muncie, Ind.) led Maine with 10 digs. The Great Danes were led by Amanda Cowdrey (Brampton, Ontario) with 13 kills and nine digs. Maine looks to rebound as they return to the court on Sunday, Oct. 5, as they travel to UMBC at 1 p.m. --UM--
