Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision at UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. - The University of Maine volleyball team had its two-match win streak snapped on Friday night as it dropped a tough 3-1 decision at UMBC. Maine fell to 4-12 overall and 2-1 in America East. Sophomores Lindsay Allman and Jessica Wolfenden led Maine with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Freshman Amanda Armstrong, who was seeing her first conference action, recorded 10 kills. Senior setter and co-captain Shelly Seipp added 45 assists, nine digs and a service ace. Sophomore Margaret Page posted a career-high six blocks. It marked the second-straight match a Black Bear recorded at least six blocks. Sophomore Brittany Kiehl totaled a career-high seven blocks in a 3-0 win over Hartford last Sunday.
The Black Bears will return to action on Sunday at 1 p.m., when they travel to Stony Brook, N.Y. to face Stony Brook.
