Stony Brook Downs Maine Volleyball

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Senior Carmen Morgan (Watson, Saskatchewan) had a match-high 15 kills, but the University of Maine volleyball team fell to host Stony Brook, 3-0 (30-24, 30-26, 30-23), Saturday afternoon at the SB Sports Complex. The Black Bears drop to 14-10 overall and 6-4 in America East play, while the Seawolves improve to 13-13 and 5-5.

Senior Brittany Howe (Columbia, Maine) tallied 13 kills in the losing effort. Sophomore Shelly Seipp (Spokane, Wash.) posted 40 kills, one night after dishing 39 helpers in 3-0 victory at UMBC.

The Seawolves were led by Morgan Sweany with 13 kills and Julie Zub with 40 assists. Abby Egan had a match-high 17 digs.

The Black Bears continue their five-match conference road swing with a contest at Hartford on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
