Volleyball Grounds the Hawks

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior Kaili Jordan (Raymore, Saskatchewan) tallied a match-high 17 kills to lead the University of Maine volleyball team over Hartford, 3-0 (30-13, 30-20, 30-25), Friday evening at Reich Family Pavilion. The Black Bears (15-10, 7-4 America East) made quick work of the Hawks (5-24, 0-11), finishing the contest in just over an hour.

As a team, Maine hit .457 for the match, compared to only .053 for the Hawks.

Sophomore Shelly Seipp (Spokane, Wash.) recorded a double-double with 43 assists and 10 digs. She also had four service aces.

While registering 10 kills, junior Leah Guidinger (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan) posted a .562 hitting percentage. Guidinger added nine digs. Junior Shannan Fotter (Riverside, Calif.) finished with 12 kills.

Jennifer Monroy was the lone Hawk to record double-figures in kills, ending the match with 10. Brianne Paulson paced the team with 23 assists.

The Black Bears also defeated Hartford on Oct. 23 in Orono (3-0) to claim the season series. Maine has 10 three-game sweeps this year.

After two consecutive weekends away from home, the Black Bears close out their five-match conference road swing on Saturday, playing Northeastern in Boston at 7 p.m.
