Volleyball Surpasses Dig Pink Goal

Orono, Maine - The University of Maine volleyball team raised $1,610 for its 2008 "Dig Pink" match that took place on Friday, October 24, exceeding its goal of $1,500. The volleyball team thanks all those who donated money, equipment or their time to help with the event. The Black Bears collected donations in the weeks leading up to and during the 3-1 victory over New Hampshire. Maine donned pink uniforms donated by Asics and pink warm-up shirts donated by Lon and Deborah Wright, the parents of senior libero Ashlee Wright (Muncie, Ind.). "Dig Pink" is sponsored by the Side-Out Foundation as a nationwide rally to promote awareness and education about breast cancer.
