Jordan, Seipp Earn America East Volleyball Accolades
Nov. 8, 2004 BOSTON - After helping the University of Maine volleyball team to a pair of victories last week, enabling the team to clinch a berth in the conference championship for the first time since 2001, junior Kaili Jordan (Raymore, Saskatchewan) and sophomore Shelly Seipp (Spokane, Wash.) were honored by the America East Conference on Monday. Jordan was named co-player of the week, while Seipp earned the setter of the week award. Jordan, an outside hitter, posted 39 kills (5.57 per game) in two matches. She recorded a double-double with a match-high 22 kills and 20 digs in a 3-1 victory over Northeastern. In a 3-0 sweep of Hartford, Jordan had 17 kills. For the season, she leads the Black Bears (16-10, 8-4) with 319 kills (3.71 per game). In two matches, Seipp had 107 assists (15.29 per game) and 40 digs (5.71 per game). Seipp registered a double-double in each match. Against Northeastern, she posted a match and season-high 64 assists, plus 30 digs. The 30 digs were two shy of tying the school single-match record. In the win at Hartford, she had 43 assists, 10 digs and four service aces. She has recorded 40 or more assists in 12 contests this season and leads the team with 10.60 assists per game. Maine closes out the regular season this weekend, hosting Albany on Friday and Binghamton on Saturday at Memorial Gym. The conference championship is scheduled to be played in Albany, N.Y., Nov. 19-20.
