Shelly Seipp Named to the All-America East Second Team

Orono, Maine -- Senior co-captain and setter Shelly Seipp (Spokane,Wash.) was named to the 2006 All-America East Second Team on Friday at the annual conference awards banquet in Albany, N.Y. It marks the second-consecutive season she was named an all-conference selection, as she garnered first-team honors in 2005.

Seipp played 95 games in 25 matches for the Black Bears this past season. She led the team and was fifth in the league in assists with 10.21 per game, totaling 970 on the season. It marked the fourth-straight season she topped 900 assists. Seipp also finished the season leading the league in service aces averaging 0.57 a game.

In addition to leading the team in assists this season, she also led the squad in aces and was third on the squad with 184 digs. Seipp was a key contributor for the Black Bears, especially during the second half of the season as she tallied 40 or more assists in each of the last 11 matches. She had six matches on the season in which she registered 50 or more assists, including a game-high 58 assists at New Hampshire on Nov. 5.
