The Black Bears (14-12, 7-5 AE) qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2005 after a dramatic turn-around from last season, winning 10 more matches than the 2007 campaign. Maine has been led on offense by seniors Lindsay Allman (St. Louis, Mo.), Laura Goettsch (Woodstock, Ontario) and Jessica Wolfenden (Ottawa, Ontario). Allman is sixth in America East with 3.08 kills per set and leads the Black Bears with 317 kills this season. Goettsch was named Player of the Week on Nov. 10 by the conference after a great performance in back-to-back matches to clinch the playoff berth, she has 234 kills this season. Wolfenden has proved to be invaluable as a setter, ranking fourth in America East in assists with 9.27 per set, totaling 936 assists this season.

If Maine beats Albany, they will play again on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 4 p.m. against the winner of Friday's other semi-final match between UMBC and Binghamton.
